The Great Barrier Reef – The largest coral reef system in the world which includes 2,900 individual reefs and 900 island over a distance of more than 2000 kilometres. It encompasses an area of 350,000 square kilometres and is internationally recognized as the Seventh Natural Wonder of the World. Reef trips are available from Townsville offering diving, snorkling and/or fishing

Charters Towers, Ravenswood and the outback – Amidst the expanse of the great Australian outback, lie the historic gold mining towns of Charters Towers and Ravenswood.
Charters Towers once known as “The World” is located some 90 minutes drive west of Townsville.

Wet tropics –
Townsville is the southern gateway to the Wet Tropics. Paluma rainforest, Wallaman Falls or Hinchinbrook Island are only a 90 minute drive north of Townsville.

Magnetic Island –
This world-heritage listed island is only 8km from the Townsville City centre. It takes 25 minutes by ferry or 45 minutes by car ferry to reach this paradise comprising of 23 bays and beaches.
